Dallin Orr - Stained Glass Artist at Holdman Studios

Updated: Apr 29, 2019

“Dallin has a real eye for design that many others do not have,” says veteran glass artist Cameron Oscarson, who worked with Orr on Roots of Knowledge.

Dallin Orr, hired as the first student intern at Holdman Studios, cut his teeth on stained glass with the stunning 200-foot-long examination of learning through time called Roots of Knowledge. The illustration graduate from Utah Valley University began painting glass in a team with two other people. Now the team has expanded to more than 100 other artists.

Orr became acquainted with the Roots of Knowledge project through one of his philosophy professors, and Orr began doing research. It wasn’t long, however, before it was evident that his talents could be utilized better as a painter. He appreciates stained glass as fine art and its ability to communicate ideas and beliefs to people.

Still young, Orr isn’t positive what his future will be, but as for now he says he enjoys working at Holdman Studios because, as he explains, “I like what I do here, I like thinking about ideas and I like the people here. I get to be involved in the creative process from the moment I come here. I like everything from research, art and design. I especially like that this is a place with big ideas.”
