At Roots of Humanity, we believe in the transformative power of a single spark—one person’s courage, love, or vision can light a path for countless others. This week, we had the privilege of meeting someone who embodies that truth: Father Grigor and his remarkable family.

After the birth of his son Monte, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome, Father Grigor didn’t just accept the challenge—he transformed it into a mission. From that deeply personal journey came the creation of Sun-Children Children’s Health and Development Center, Armenia’s first non-governmental organization dedicated exclusively to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. What started as one family’s hope has become a nationwide beacon for inclusion.
Sun-Children offers its services completely free of charge—psychology, speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and special education—ensuring that no child is left behind due to financial barriers. The center also embraces the arts through its inclusive Sunny Theater program, which helps build confidence and communication through performance.
Father Grigor’s story is a reminder: one person, moved by love, can create lasting change.

When we talk about uniting humanity, we’re not just speaking in ideals—we’re talking about real people like Father Grigor who see the humanity in others, and act on it. His work reminds us that inclusion, dignity, and opportunity should never be privileges—they are rights that every person deserves.
As we continue our mission at Roots of Humanity, may we all be inspired by those who act on compassion. May we, too, become the spark that lights the way.
Best,
Roots of Humanity
