Our journey began in 2016, sparked by a moment of reflection. While touring the Roots of Knowledge stained-glass windows, our founder, Tom Holdman, stood on the London Bridge, watching lights dance across the Thames River. He thought of the billions of people in the world—each with their own stories, struggles, and triumphs. The idea that art could bring these stories together felt overwhelming to both Tom and his wife, Gayle (co-founder), especially after 12 years of creating Roots of Knowledge. But that moment became a turning point.

The Roots of Humanity Foundation was founded on the belief that art and education have the power to transcend boundaries, connect us, and inspire positive change. Since then, we’ve pursued projects like The Piece That is You, The Seven Pillars, and Believe in Him—each celebrating the human experience, fostering creativity, and deepening understanding.

Now, we embark on our most ambitious endeavor yet: the Sphere of Light. Spanning 10,000 square feet of intricate stained glass, this breathtaking installation will illuminate the shared journey of humanity, telling a story of unity, resilience, and hope. While stained glass work is already underway, this monumental structure is set for completion in 2029.

Through this platform, we’ll continue to share updates on the Sphere of Light and the transformative work of Roots of Humanity in art education. Follow along for weekly insights, behind-the-scenes stories, and ways to be part of this journey.
Together, we can use the power of art to educate, inspire, and unite humanity. Donate today and help bring this vision to life!
Until next time,
Roots of Humanity
