Sneak peak of the early stages for the Birth Scene featured in the Unity Panel
Sneak peak of the early stages for the Birth Scene featured in the Unity Panel

Every human soul begins in the same way. If we want to truly acknowledge every human life, we first have to acknowledge how that life begins.

The Sphere of Light is meant to feel like a lived experience, not just something to observe. That is why our design concept begins with birth. From the moment a visitor enters, the intention is to invite reflection on their own beginning, or the birth of a child or sibling. From there, the experience progresses through each level, with each space focusing on a different stage of life.

At the center of the birth window is the child’s head. Everything in this scene is about light and the light within that child. All of the light in the composition radiates outward from them, almost as if a star is being born. There is a star placed directly behind the child, reinforcing the idea that new life brings new light into the world.

This moment is a celebration of that added light. Every person who enters the world brings something with them. Light in the form of presence, potential, and purpose.

Capturing the emotion of the mother was one of the most challenging aspects of this scene. That emotion lives in two places at once. Utter exhaustion and complete exhilaration. A mother is willing to risk her life to bring life into the world. It is pain and sacrifice, and yet it is entirely worthwhile. Labor is draining and intense, and it becomes the culmination of everything she has carried for nine months. The miracle is not only the baby arriving alive, but the journey it took to get there. She is the ultimate giver of life.

This scene honors the arrival of a being of light who will add something only they can. Every person has a unique purpose shaped by their gifts, abilities, and experiences. No one knows exactly what lies ahead for any human life, but the arrival of a new soul on this planet is always worthy of celebration.

As visitors move beyond the birth scene, that celebration expands. The joy grows outward into the village, reflecting how a single life ripples into families, communities, and the world beyond. The Sphere of Light begins with birth because every story begins there.

Make sure you continue to follow our journey as this scene continues to be shaped artistically.

Until next week,
