Stained glass is uniquely dependent on light. Without illumination, it’s just glass. But when light pours through it—whether from the sun or from behind—it becomes something transcendent. In stained glass work, from intimate windows to the monumental Sphere of Light, we’ve seen how light animates color, infuses movement, and gives breath to stillness. It invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and see the world in a new way.

Symbolism of Light in the Human Journey

The Sphere of Light and Seven Pillars reflect humanity’s journey—from ignorance to understanding, from conflict to peace. Light symbolizes knowledge, truth, and progress. Just as physical light reveals beauty in glass, symbolic light reveals beauty in the human experience. It is both a guide and a gift.

The Emotional and Educational Power of Light

In classrooms and exhibits, light becomes a teaching tool. As young students or curious visitors see how light transforms art, they realize a greater truth: perspective matters. When something difficult or dull is lit from a different angle, it becomes beautiful. Art, like education, is about illumination—sparking curiosity, insight, and wonder.

Our Role: Shaping the Canvas, Inviting the Light

As artists and educatrs work with glass but do not create the light that brings it to life. Their role is to prepare the medium so when light shines through, it can do its transformative work. Whether through stained glass or a different medium, we are continually reminded that light completes the story.

In a world that often feels dark or divided, life giving light is something we can all seek, reflect, and share. Through art education, through the Sphere of Light, and through every act of creative courage, we invite the light in.

Let there be light—and let it reveal what’s most beautiful in all of us.

Best,
